The Roberts Swimming Academy opened its first school in Musgrave in 2010 and its sister branch in Durban North was opened in 2012. The Durban North branch is a purpose-built teaching pool that was designed and built by the family, with just over 30 years swimming experience and teaching.

We believe in and practice family values and aim to make all our pupils and parents feel at home from the moment they step into our schools. We pride ourselves on safety first and always followed by lots of fun. The techniques and approach to our swimming programs aim at progression going on an ongoing basis, so that each individual child is learning at all times and developing at their own pace in their own unique way.

Our awesome team of friendly instructors are trained in-house and are constantly undergoing after hour weekend sessions at either branch to further better our core techniques. Up to date CPR & First Aid are mandatory for the team as well.

Highlights

We Teach All Ages

Lessons are filled with songs, games, water familiarization, confidence and safety, strokes and stroke correction for toddlers and adults. All ages are welcome from 3months up.

We have a variety of baby classes, that enable the parent/s to choose what is best suited for their child. We have private one on one lessons and Parents & Poppets group sessions. These are designed to get your baby water familiarized and water confident in a safe and fun environment with mum or dad in the pool. We aim at teaching babies to learn to swim at a very young age with the patience and guidance they need to progress.

Individualised Attention

We generally maintain a maximum of two pupils per instructor (excluding baby classes) to ensure each child receives focused attention during every lesson.

However, we may accommodate slightly larger groups where appropriate, depending on the class type and the needs of the children.

Progress is carefully monitored through regular assessments, and parents receive detailed feedback in a report each term.s.

Special Needs & Disabilities

We proudly offer swimming lessons for children with special needs, with accessible entry into the pool at both of our branches.

However, our Durban North location has been purpose-built with inclusivity in mind and is best suited for those requiring additional support.

This branch features wheelchair-friendly access as well as a hoist to assist with safe entry and exit from the pool.

Hygiene, Comfort & Convenience

Our pools are heated and we offer all year round swimming.
They also boast state of the art advanced filtration methods utilizing Ozone and UV ensuring crystal clear clean water. Our water temperature remains at 32degrees throughout the year, with the temperature being turned up or down a degree in hotter or colder seasons.

The pools are both fully enclosed and covered, with changing facilities and seating for parents to watch lessons next to the pool. We have tuck shops and swim shops at both branches.
