The Roberts Swimming Academy opened its first school in Musgrave in 2010 and its sister branch in Durban North was opened in 2012. The Durban North branch is a purpose-built teaching pool that was designed and built by the family, with just over 30 years swimming experience and teaching.
We believe in and practice family values and aim to make all our pupils and parents feel at home from the moment they step into our schools. We pride ourselves on safety first and always followed by lots of fun. The techniques and approach to our swimming programs aim at progression going on an ongoing basis, so that each individual child is learning at all times and developing at their own pace in their own unique way.
Our awesome team of friendly instructors are trained in-house and are constantly undergoing after hour weekend sessions at either branch to further better our core techniques. Up to date CPR & First Aid are mandatory for the team as well.
Lessons are filled with songs, games, water familiarization, confidence and safety, strokes and stroke correction for toddlers and adults. All ages are welcome from 3months up.
We have a variety of baby classes, that enable the parent/s to choose what is best suited for their child. We have private one on one lessons and Parents & Poppets group sessions. These are designed to get your baby water familiarized and water confident in a safe and fun environment with mum or dad in the pool. We aim at teaching babies to learn to swim at a very young age with the patience and guidance they need to progress.
We take a maximum of two pupils per instructor (excluding baby classes) as this enables the instructor to give more attention to the pupils at every lesson. Progress is closely monitored through regular assessments of the pupils and feedback is given to the parents in a report every term.
We offer Aqua Aerobics as well as Adults Learn to Swim and Progress at their own pace and each course is specifically designed to the client to reach their own goals.
We also offer special needs swimming with easy access into the pool. Wheelchair friendly access into and out of the pool, and a hoist to lift and lower pupils into the pool has been set up at our Durban North branch.
Our pools boast state of the art advanced filtration methods utilizing Ozone and UV ensuring crystal clear clean water. Our water temperature remains at 32degrees throughout the year, with the temperature being turned up or down a degree in hotter or colder seasons. The pools are both fully enclosed and covered, with changing facilities and seating for parents to watch lessons next to the pool. We have tuckshops and swim shops at both branches.
Many of our pupils start with us as babies and become part of the family as they grow with their progression from water safety to stroke correction and develop techniques that will stay with them for all their fun future swimming adventures.

Throughout The Year
The Roberts Swimming Academy also provides the specialised services of your swimming pool, we offer Pool Chemicals and Guidance on how to maintain your pool effectively. We supply Pumps and Filtration, Pipes, Valves and Fittings. We install Solar Panels and Heat pumps aswell as supply the product in order for you to have a warm pool throughout the year to enjoy. New pools and Refurbishments are also one of our services that we offer.
